  2. Ways With Word'customers are thinking about the east coast in November and booking their Southwold WWW tickets.So busy,so Southwold.
  3. Festival highlights: Margaret Drabble's unusual memoir on jigsaws; Victoria Glendinning was illuminating on different ways of loving.
  4. Last w/e of WWW at Dartington Hall. Arthur Smith will talk about his desert island books. Antony Sher will talk about his life.
  5. The Dartington gardens wouldn't be so green if there were no wet days but hey the sun is shining; the next book signing can be outside.
  6. Oh, and by the way, we're not letting the odd shower dampen our spirits. "The best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain."
  7. Just heard Horatio Clare talking on his book 'A Single Swallow'. Made my spirits soar. Informative, touching and uplifting. Must fly.
  8. Coming up for air after a word-ful first weekend at Ways With Words. Highlights: too many to mention. You have to be here.
  9. Our house and courtyard in France was filled with painters and writers creating works of art,conversation and clutter. Now still and quiet.
  10. Can creative writing be taught? Can painting be taught? We shall see when WWW course in the Dordogne starts in a few days time.
  11. Also Italian Vogue said Cafe Oto was THE coolest place in Britain. Glowing - not freezing- as only a proud mother can.
  12. Cafe Oto was packed last night for Phil Niblock - NY minimalist composer. The Observer named Cafe Oto the 4th coolest place on the world.
  13. Radio 4 talks about,"the murky world of poetry and politics".So much murkiness where there should be clarity: a challenge for WWW festivals.
  14. Lost poems by Auden found.One of the many dead writers I'd love to come WWW.Andrew Motion is giving a talk on Ted Hiughes-another sad loss.
  15. The WWW sweepstake has been won by Anna. She predicted that Paddy Ashdown would be the first person to sell out from the box office.Spot on!
  16. How do you cheat time? Read lots of books and live many lives. Reading Frances Partridge's biography. She cheated time by living to 103.
  17. Saw play about Dorothy Elmhirst,the millionaire founder of Dartington Hall. So many people are grateful to her-especially Ways With Words.
  18. Invited historian friends for a 5pm meal. Linner? Dunch? It slipped into Dupper or Sinner. So much history to talk about.
  19. We drank champagne at the book group to celebrate Richard Fox's book, Solving The Arts Puzzle. If only we could - but we'll carry on trying.
  20. The Great Hall at Dartington speaks to me.It says relax,be calm.I've been here 700 years;Ways With Words 18 years lifespan is nothing.
