  1. @ZanthanGardens Don't feel bad. It's Boggy Creek's first kale. My kale won't be ready for a few weeks at the earliest.
  2. Oh happy day! First dinosaur kale of season. Will make fav kale dish for dinner: toast topped w/sauteed kale and poached egg.
  3. @Indygardener is there a compost pile Hall of Shame? I think that's where mine belongs.
  4. After my winter squash buying bender last week, I tried a new recipe: roasted squash w/tahini dip: http://tinyurl.com/y884tfj. Pretty good.
  5. Mine too! But am i too late if the basil has flowered? @reneesroots @ZanthanGardens Pesto making is on my to-do list too.
  6. My niece who is out of school today awaiting Hurricane (now tropical storm) Ida called to talk dogs. She's convinced her mom to get one.
  7. @AlamoNorth Don't know what I was thinking but no, I didn't go in. Not a pickle fan, I guess.
  8. Antique pickles, hip dingos, and our visit to @cibolonaturectr. Thanks for the rec, @redwhiteandgrew: http://tinyurl.com/yzod9tm
  9. Red sails lettuce officially star performer in garden. Planted it 5 days after other lettuce mixes and it's kicking the other seedlings' ass
  10. Heading home from camping trip to Lake Livingston. Great state park. Glad to read it rained today. I'm sure my abandoned plants needed it.
  11. http://twitpic.com/oi5k4 - Didn't realize we'd be driving past Mueller's in Taylor right at lunchtime. Would've been wrong not to stop.
  12. @eatthislens no, I don't work there. Great minds...We're going camping this weekend. Would love to hear results of chili cookoff.
  13. @eatthislens that cornbread would go well with the chicken green chile chili I'm up making. Nice meeting you, too! Lots of bacon dreams!
  14. Not surprised that bacon-loving dog was very happy to smell me. A little surprised that bacon-loving DH felt the same way.
  15. Feeling a bit piggish after enjoying @eatthislens's bacon at slow food session. It was delicious, as was Greg's Preservation Bacon.
  16. @in_bloom Only garden blogger I've run into is @AnnieinAustin, but then again it was at Natural Gardener.
  17. @ZanthanGardens Mine's lavender. Should at least take a picture of it, poor neglected thing.
  18. @ZanthanGardens Philip of East Side Patch just posted about his, calling it a classy plant. Will keep it and may come to love it.
  19. Pine nuts are the vegetarian equivalent of bacon. Everything tastes better with them.
  20. My Philippine violet survived w/o supplemental water and is now covered in blooms. Wish I liked it more. Looks like fake indoor plant to me.
