  1. Tomorrow morning we are expecting Daniel Brunier of Vieux Telegraphe for a visit around 10am. Not to taste anything, just a quick chat.
  2. In Serralunga having dinner with the number twos from Fiat, Juventus, Ferrero Rocher & their bodyguards. investigating Barolo tomorrow.
  3. Fabien Moreau got married last week and is pretty cheerful about life and everything. His wines are superb too and not just Les Clos.
  4. Just seen Benoit Droin and had a whistlestop tour of the premier ans grand crus. 08 a cross between 07 & 02, he says. very nice, anyway.
  5. Just thinking about packing and getting on the road to Chablis. We'll see Benoit Droin and Moreaus. Tasted their Le Clos in ferment already.
  6. What better way to finish a day in the Cote de Nuits than with fruit and structure? Chauvenet`s 08s are great, but the 06 and 07s are superb
  7. Etienne at Jean Grivot leads us through an extensive tasting back to an amazing 1993 Richebourg. A mysterious Russian and minder join us.
  8. Meo-Camuzet, and Jean-Nicholas` cheekbones in particular lead the charge after lunch with some particularly svelte`n`sexy wines.
  9. Next comes Louis Boillot with his best yet and Ghislaine Barthod with her usual finely crafted masterpieces - superb quality wines.
  10. What a start to a day! Arnaud at Denis Mortet, fantastic fleshy but elegant wines where the tannins really are fruit coated.
  11. So Allen Meadows has finished a book on Vosne Romanee, but Jasper Morris has an upcoming one on the whole region. These will fill a big hole
  12. This afternoon we had visits to Thomas Morey, Damien Colin, Vincent Morey and Morey-Coffinet. Only two of them are related. Need to eat!
  13. Third visit was to Jobard where young Antoine has the reins and has produced a vintage full of energy, life and fruit. Off for lunch.
  14. A good morning. Jean-Marc Boillot's Reds and Whites then the formidable Lafarge reds, all red fruit and minerals and the marvellous Aligote.
  15. And just left the laid back but fierce Kellen Lignier. Her wines are looking very fine and we hope to add them to the portfolio.
  16. My notebook is worth 1000% more than it was before listening to Jean-Marie Fourrier for a couple of hours. Always a highlight of Burgundy.
  17. Life in the wine trade part 66: just been given a taste of 2002 DRC Echezaux by Jasper Morris, the most powerful Englishman in Burgundy.
  18. Some exciting driving, some duff wines, a lot of rain, a cancelled appointment and the fabulous Clos des Lambrays in it's pomp.
  19. And another possible. Again anonymous until things are settled, but has a great domaine in a village known for white but with 50% Pinot Noir
  20. After lunch a new prospect, can't tell you who yet, but a kid who has kickstarted his dad's domaine. excellent wines and not am arrogant guy
