  1. In software, as in all systems, simplicity is better than complexity. Simple systems are more likely to survive and adapt.
  2. If you want a measure of complexity, try: # of moving parts or # of interacting elements.
  3. Evolution is a random process. Complex life forms are many sigmas out on the tail of the bell curve.
  4. By any measure: # of individuals, # of species, or just sheer biomass, simple life forms outweigh complex life forms by orders of magnitude.
  5. Next question: It is more common for evolutionary changes to add complexity or remove complexity?
  6. Good. Evolution has no bias towards complexity at all. Life simply evolves. Those evolved forms that can survive reproduce.
  7. True or false: The Theory of Evolution posits that life evolves from simpler forms to more complex forms.
  8. @soulware Me too. It's similar to a World Net Daily pledge from March. I'm still asking around.
  9. @geekydevjoe I talk about all kinds of things. Tomorrow it might be astronomy or physics.
  10. @bdruth North of Chicago. Libertyville.
  11. New blog reviewing @JohnMacIntyre 's blog about Clean Code. http://bit.ly/bbnpET
  12. @bdruth I love the street names in your neighborhood. I'll wave the next time I drive up to the Dells.
  13. @markrendle their profile is just as high, but is cast more positive by the media that employs them.
  14. @isidore_us There is a book about that. <grin>
  15. Anyone who tries to say that Ds or Rs are more moral than the other is morally challenged.
  16. @marick Ds have used victim claims too (Bush lied. Stolen election) And Rs often talk about personal responsibility.
  17. @markrendle Dowd, Rich, Olberman, etc.
  18. @markrendle there are plenty of RRDs on the left.
  19. @jonathanbaltz 1993+ was a time of _decreasing_ spending due to R takeover of congress. Trends were encouraging to business. Not now.
  20. @hokiecsgrad I'm on it!
