  1. Large crowds of prospective students today (some high school students have the day off). Wish the weather was a little better for them.
  2. Tried the burrito station at the Pavilion XI dining hall for the first time (it's new this semester). Loving my veggie salad!
  3. Does the University Program Council have triplets on it? Three of the guys working this show look a lot alike.
  4. Waiting for concert to start and am seeing multiple students working on papers on their laptops. Guess it's hard to go out on a Tuesday.
  5. Seeing Derek Trucks Band in beautiful Old Cabell Theatre tonight. Have only seen choirs here, so this is a change! http://twitpic.com/p1vcv
  6. @uvamusic Thanks for the heads up! Just grabbed two tickets for tonight's show.
  7. Student asks "what can we do to help" with sustainability. Become active with greening and peeservation initiatives.
  8. New coffee shop and convenience store to come down by the terrace to South Lawn.
  9. The terrace between The Lawn and the South Lawn is the size of a football field.
  10. Future Alderman dorms will have smaller building footprints, but buildings will be five stories tall to accomodate 1000 extra students.
  11. UVA and Cville team up to make certain improvements. UVA helped pay for change in intersection of Main Street and Jefferson Park Avenue.
  12. UVA went beyond environmental requirements when John Paul Jones Arena was built. Great to hear!
  13. There are more landscape architects in Office of University Architect than architects!
  14. Student asks why 2 trees were taken down. Neuman says they were they were damaging building and weren't the right species for that site.
  15. Perhaps the reason this place feels big sometimes is because we have so much green space and don't squish things in.
  16. 13% of ground in the South Lawn project will be covered by the building footprints.
  17. Only 10% of the ground area is covered by building footprints. Pretty amazing. We can go a little higher, but density is a factor.
  18. There are very specific sites that are "redevelopment zones" which will help us take on the yearly growth dictated by the state.
  19. One of Olmstead's followers created the first landscape architectural plan for UVa.
  20. Just as the do today for the first few days of class, the original students "shopped" for classes by standing outside collonades.
