  1. More weekend planning: Mount Dora Garden Fest, 9am-4pm Sat & Sun. Lots and lots of plants!
  2. Weekend planning -- the nursery assoc.'s CHEAP plant auction is 1 p.m. Saturday at Hills Cty fair. For free fair tickets call (813) 966-7448
  3. Big, beautiful "flapjacks" -- those pancake-looking succulents that do so well in the sun -- for $4.97 at Home Depot.
  4. The summer rains sign up for an extended (or delayed?) appearance. Good time to toss out fall flower seeds, like zinnias.
  5. Ground orchids! They grow great here in filtered sun, put 'em right in the ground. On sale through Saturday for $2.50 at Home Depot.
  6. @FlFriendlyPlant Thanks for the link! (I'm a wuss. I fear the Sevin.)
  7. @FlFriendlyPlant The garden center that shall not be named was rather limited. I'll try the Orange if Safer doesn't work. (thanks!)
  8. @FlFriendlyPlant Couldn't do the Sevin, but saw this too late to look for Imidicloprid, darnit. I got Safer brand insect killing soap
  9. A tropical depression hanging out in just the right spot in the Gulf makes for an excellent day to plant, weed and dig in Tampa.
  10. Save that pineapple top and grow your own plant. Easy how-tos from a Tampa pineapple lover, bit.ly/dirtblog
  11. Reaching for the Sevin ... reaching ... reaching. And no one's stopping me? Is there no better antidote for scale?
  12. Gooey, plant-eating scale is playing leapfrog in my garden, totally unimpeded by organic attackers. I may have to go for the Sevin.
  13. @FlFriendlyPlant ah! I thought it was a "now" pic. I was gonna be happy for your wife!
  14. @FlFriendlyPlant where ARE you?
  15. @CIOBRIEN You can find it at tinyurl.com/dirtblog. Look on the rail to the left, and click the hyperlink below the map. Happy shopping!
  16. Just as I was wondering why garden pests only attack the good stuff, I found scale on Spanish needle (weed). Nature can be fair!
  17. Plant shopping made easier for Tampa Bay area gardeners: Find a nursery at bit.ly/nurseries. If your fav is missing send us a tweet.
  18. Rain makes gardens buff. Darned weeds, too.
  19. @sekimori Ha!!! I knew that looked familiar! See my comment to your post from March 20
  20. @sekimori Sorry -- mis-read your last post on the micro set-up. Checking it now
