  4. One of the most useless phrases in English is "is titled." It's rarely necessary. Just give the title. That will usually work just fine.
  5. Always strive to be as specific as you can in your writing. "Weapon" is vague. ".40-caliber Beretta Cougar pistol" is specific.
  6. When you're giving a range in writing, there's miles of difference between "2 to 4 million" and "2 million to 4 million."
  7. Reading "New York" by Rutherfurd. He wrongly has Grant as winning general at Gettysburg. Having trouble getting past it and finishing book.
  8. The adjective and adverb is spelled "predominant" or "predominantly." The verb is spelled "predominate" but it takes a preposition.
  9. "Entitled," despite what you see in dictionaries, means "has the right to." "Titled" means "named." Don't use "entitled" to mean "named."
  10. What's the best advice on writing you've ever received?
  11. British English allows collective nouns to be plural: "... the company ... their..." but U.S. uses singular: "... the company ... its..."
