  2. Austin: Just had the most delicious tenderloin sliders at Cover 3.
  3. Austin: Drooling over daily special panino w/ thin salami, homemade mozzarella & rosemary balsamic reduction on house focaccia at Asti.
  4. Austin: Departing chef Mark cites creative differences. He's more fine-dining; the owners of Annie's wanted some more-accessible dishes.
  5. Austin: Chef Mark Schmidt has left Annie's (formerly Apple Annie's). Too bad! Heard it from him, have asked reason. Don't know yet.
  6. San Antonio: Best chocolate of the summer was not in TX -- Estonia at Chocolat de Pierre. W/rum raisins, chile rojo
  7. Austin: Sprouts Farmers Market will debut two new stores in Round Rock and Sunset Valley on September 4th. Check them out.
  8. San Antoniio: My favorite food of the summer -- Greek yogurt with fruit, or in soup, or in salad dressings, or wherever.
  9. San Antonio -Oyster mushrooms anyone. You can buy them from a grower in Gonzalez, selling at the Farmers Market at Pearl on Sat am
  10. San Antonio_ Last night at Le Reve, we had a slider -- of fois gras. And yes, we ate it with our fingers.
  11. Dallas: For a real treat, try the pork dish with pear mostardo sauce at Fedora in One Arts Plaza.
  12. Austin: Uchi's June-Ann Rodil named best Texas sommelier '09 at Tex-Som conference in Irving. Gal won in blind tastings over 20 competitors.
  13. Marfa: Food Shark for lunch. Fresh, creative, spicy tacos of chicken in adobe, corn and guac. Greek salad. $7:50. http://twitpic.com/dqx9d
  14. Austin: Enjoying amazing barbecued shrimp at Perla's.
  15. Austin: Just had a half dozen of Perla's raw oysters--superb, so fresh you can smell the sea breeze.
  16. Houston: Feast, the super Houston restaurant that advocates snout-to-tail eating, also made Bon Appetit's list of best new restaurants.
  17. Austin: Olivia was just named one of the 10 best new restaurants in country by Bon Appetit magazine. James Holmes is chef. Congrats!
  18. South Padre Island: We just devoured half a dozen amazing fried shrimp at Dirty Al's.
