  3. BSA is required, too, so takes at least 8, and salary of each is higher than a COBOL PA. You can't just make the best PA a manager, either
  4. I estimate it now takes @8 Java, SQL, DBA, QA, tech support, tech writer & managers, to equal output of 4 1980s COBOL programmer analysts
  5. Approx 1000 arrested in uncertainty leading up to unveilling statue of Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar yesterday. No problems for most people here
  6. Over 4000 security people on Bangalore streets. Last night there were Christmas-type lights draped on buildings, especially near the statue
  7. Our apt is on Lake Ulsoor. There are concerns about safety today so we're home. http://www.hindu.com/2009/0...
  8. In my 20's I used to ask very successful people how they got there. Every one said "You wouldn't want to do it that way." Now I understand.
  9. Indian cleaners wreck my US clothes - I wear mostly #EileenFisher - & US cleaners wreck my Indian clothes. I wear local clothes both places
  10. Considering cool bungalow out on (Old) Airport Rd, as our new Bangalore office. May need a LOT of wiring to support our computers and phones
  11. Our lease deal fell apart on the day I was scheduled to sign. Anyone got a good deal on office space in central business district Bangalore?
  12. There are US VCs who won't fund ventures right now unless coding is done outside US - they say US quality & qty doesn't support the cost
  13. There's a lot of hard work to working in Bangalore, @MfgCrunch, just like working anywhere.I do find people here very interested in working.
  14. The culture gap in my world wide enterprise isn't folks from different countries speaking different languages... just management & techies.
  15. Our new Bangalore office is 20% more rent than our 2006 lease. In spite of looking for months, & the economy, no better deal was on offer.
  16. Looking to determine whether there are any data merchants in Bangalore that might be for sale.
  17. In India for the summer again. Major price-based competition among retail stores right now but experienced techies still in short supply.
  18. People who said they knew all about Twitter keep borrowing my #TwitterBook. Buying 2 more books & getting 3rd free http://oreilly.twi.bz/b
  19. @MrT777 As I recall, Ken O believed it would be near impossible to get a company's desktop machines backed up and running approved software.
  20. Just ordered #TwitterBook after watching videos by @timoreilly and @SarahM at amazon.com. As you'd expect, it looks really useful
