  3. Want to better understand + remember what u read? Mentally summarize what you just read to solidify comprehension!
  4. Yr eyes are the window to your brain. Have you had them checked lately??
  5. Ever read in a rush? The pressure makes it hard to focus. Try to relax with many DEEP breaths and quiet classical music in background.
  6. Oprah hasn't done a show on speed reading yet! Anyone know how to get the producers attention? I know the perfect guest ;)

  8. Hey,did u know that taking frequent breaks while reading helps to remember what you read? We remember 1sts and lasts more than middles.
  9. What do u do with your keepers (info u want to remember)? Try Evernote to keep those important snippets for future use.

  11. If want to figure how fast u read, multiply number lines read by average words per line (pick any 10 lines to figure words per line).
  12. Sometimes saying no to a football game allows us to secure precious reading time!
  13. Reading with concentration means MONO-tasking, NOT multi-tasking.
  14. Did u know non-fiction writing starts from an outline? Your job as a reader is to locate it. (Hint:look at 1st sentences of paragraphs)

  16. If u know u read word 4 word, u probably learned to read using phonics. Reduce the mental talking- try pressing tongue to roof of mouth.

  18. If you tend to re-read, maybe don't trust yr brain? Get rid of voice that says u need to understand everything. Get what U need and move on.
  19. Speed looking = when you "read" quickly, reach the bottom of the page and have no idea what you read. Day-dreaming causes this too!
  20. Anne Jones, UK speed reader, read Dan Brown's book The Lost Symbol at 3387 words per minute! Avg speed for most is just 250.
