  1. Just finished re-read of The Weirdstone of Brisingamen by Alan Garner. Wonderful fantasy. Forgot how epic the climax is. Great stuff.
  2. Excellent article by @RichardHCooper on 'feudal tweets' by prominent tweeters, and the social hierarchy of twitter. bit.ly/LWNBXa
  3. @pornokitsch @thefingersofgod Congrats on the Guardian review, great to see!
  4. @PaulWiseall How I felt. Took me a few hours to get my head around it. Have ended up with rather mixed feelings.
  5. @alittlebriton I did enjoy it and think it might be a film that is better 2nd time around. But it left me feeling a bit empty.
  6. @alittlebriton Yeah, pacing was a big problem that fed into others. And yes, the motivation for so many characters was weak or non-existent.
  7. But, most characters shallow. Pacing very uneven. Lacks tension. Plot/script has logic issues. Often too contrived. Little explanation.
  8. Thoughts on Prometheus clearer now. Looks great. Fassbender excellent. Some very uncomfortable moments. A few intriguing ideas.
  9. @MarkCN Dude. I remember you being a young upstart of an author who caused a shitstorm by declaring the death of SF. What happened to you?!
  10. @WoolnoughBrian Liverpool won't win league in three years. Be lucky if they get back in top 4 in three years.
  11. @PaulWiseall Be interested to see what you think, dude! I saw it earlier this afternoon.
  12. @SteveAryan maybe you'll like it more than me. It just wasn't quite what I was hoping for. Very mixed bag. Not sure what to make of it!
  13. @jdiddyesquire I thought Avatar looked great in 3D, but that was first time I'd seen 3D so perhaps it wasn't.
  14. Certainly don't think the 3D adds much at all - don't pay extra if you can see in 2D.
  15. Trying to gather Prometheus thoughts. Not quite sure what to think. Certainly a very mixed bag. Some good parts/aspects, but flawed.
  16. Cinema almost deserted. Prometheus ticket purchased. Screening in 30 mins. Am jigging about in foyer like an excited little kid.
  17. @gavreads I just want to see it, don't care when/where/what format! But yeah, should be great in IMAX.
  18. I am damn well going to watch that film this afternoon, even if I have to see it in bloody 3D and annihilate my wallet in the process.
  19. First Friday with a 1:30 finish, and also first day that Prometheus goes on general release. I sense the hand of fate at work here...
