  1. @calderastudios Technically it's not that I'm not a fan of OOP, it's that OOP is a bad fit for high-perf console games
  2. @GavinBowman Congrats on Elf Command, Gavin. It's a very fun little game!
  3. @mysterycoconut Yes, that's a reprint of the GDMag article (see bottom of the article). Follow ups coming up soon though :-)
  4. RT @nattylux: geoSpark is out! This is our amazing collaboration with @nsxdavid. I dare you to beat @EmmaVecom's score! http://tinyurl.c ...
  5. Data-Oriented Design (or why you might be shooting yourself in the foot with object-oriented design) http://bit.ly/538k6u
  6. @TimothFarrar Yes, but how many people these days have PCs with top-end GPUs? I know, it's chicken-egg but still. I only have a 9800GT LOL!
  7. @kamidphish Call me biased, but I thought things are turning around again (PC becoming a bigger player)
  8. @GavinBowman Hahaha... I know the feeling! I'm going exactly through the same thing :-)
  9. @yaz0r Agree w/ @barog. Also svn tries to diff every file locally to see what's changed. So huge files are going to slow it down.
  10. @yaz0r svn can be slow if you have many GBs in just one revision, so I wouldn't use it to store assets for a PS3 game. Works great for me.
  11. @yaz0r I store everything: Text and binary. Storage is virtually free these days so might as well.
  12. @ctrymaus The Flower Shop is new to this update. You'll be able to purchase more pots, more seeds, more gardens, and even fertilizer!
  13. @OwenGoss Cool. I hear they're doing it in every tech talk. Really flattering!
  14. @mbismi 500MB won't get you very far if you check in game assets even for an iPhone game. My svn rep is 1.8 GB at the moment.
  15. @ctrymaus Yes new seeds for sure. One new one included, and many more in the flower shop :)
  16. @eeen I looooved Cosmos as a kid (both the tv show and the book) Carl Sagan was just awesome!
  17. @TimothFarrar Thanks for the data. Are console cache/mem access times pub available? I forget
  18. @shanev Nope. Hasn't worked for a few weeks. Sorry :-b
  19. @TimothFarrar Sure. I'm more interested in numbers in one platform to compare between levels. Any platform will do.
  20. Anybody has a table with how many clock cycles is a cache hit/miss for L1 and L2 on an Xbox360 or PS3? Or PC if that's not public info
