  1. Monday you're up. Tuesday you're down. Wednesday - up. Thurs - down. Friday - up. That's steno. Don't base everything on one day.
  2. It's the busiest time of the year, so make sure you make the most of your steno time. No goofing off. Save that for January :)
  3. Been off the radar completing another project, but I'll be back soon with words of wisdom!
  4. When you get tests back, look them over and LEARN from them. I see the same mistakes from the same students over and over and over. Learn.
  5. CART - Captioning - Court Reporting - Transcription - They all require accuracy and speed above all else. So slam the basics now.
  6. You can cram for steno academics - you CAN'T cram for steno speed. And I should know - my name is "cram" spelled backwards : ) Marc
  7. Did you kick Mr. Miller? Did you kick, Mr. Miller? One comma - 2 very different meanings. Don't assume you can add the punctuation later.
  8. Passes are fleeting. Progress is permanent.

  10. Goals or deadlines? There's a difference. Set goals, not deadlines. Deadlines add pressure and don't help your progress at all.

  19. The students that drop out of my program fastest are the ones I see the least amount of work from. Are you turning things in in school?
  20. If you have a state exam, find out what source they use for grading - Morson's, Gregg, Webster's - whatever - and make sure you get it.
