  1. OK, tomorrow board a cruise ship for a long ride to Hawaii. Even longer for passengers who have to listen to my talks.
  2. Returning to Hollywood to advise some producers about a possible sci-fi film. Maybe I'll stock up on tinsel.
  3. EMA Awards on the Paramount back lot, with Harrison Ford, Richard Branson, Jason Mraz, Chevy Chase and Bill Nye the Science Guy. Glitzy.
  4. OK, a week of exotic, mostly fermented dinners is coming to an end. Tomorrow: 11 hours of squirming in a coach seat en route to Cally-fornia
  5. Daejeon taxi -- driving at high speed through the city while simultaneously watching a cooking show on the dashboard television screen.
  6. Daejeon ... maybe not on your top 10 list of cities to see before you die ... but still better to see it pre-mortem than post-mortem.
  7. OK, 15 hours before I scrunch into a coach seat for the 12-hour flight to Korea. Hope the kimchi's worth it.
  8. Ever seen western Oregon from the air? Where the Snake River cuts its way through barren, crenelated topography? Remarkable.
  9. "Where .. the Boise are .. " One of two speakers this morning at the Osher Inst., on the Boise State Campus ... which has actual TREES!
  10. Live in Phoenix? My talk on Science Fiction and Science tonight, 7:30 pm at Galvin's Playhouse. Be sure to say "boo".
  11. After doing about a dozen interviews, we are leaving this lovely, heaped-up hunk of lava in mid-Pacific known as the Big Island. Aloha.
  12. Went to the Keck Telescope, 13,700 feet above the Pacific, to do interviews today. Nicer than your average office park.
  13. The world's most active volcano here on the southeast corner of Hawaii's Big Island. Doing interviews for our radio show...
  14. OK, it's the equinox, and a heat wave in San Francisco might break a 70-year record. Bring on the dark!
  15. Sorry, another ad. But if you listen to our radio show, please take 20 secs to do our survey. Important for funding. http://radio.seti.org/
  16. Want to hear Frank Drake? Want to hear me? Sunday, in the Bay Area http://bit.ly/bPUOI
  17. Glad to note that Obama spoke at my alma mater yesterday ... Wakefield High School!
  18. Declamatory statement: Notre Dame University has one of the loveliest campuses I've seen on either side of the Atlantic.
  19. OK, Dragon*Con is waving its spiky tail goodbye. Off to Indiana, to give some talks at Notre Dame. I suspect the outfits won't be as nifty.
  20. More talks and panels ... Dragon*Con is very much like a parallel universe, where all your favorite characters reside, and will talk to you.
