  1. Facebook, What @The_liv80 said. via @MikeBeas
  2. @mikebeas And yet the DOJ is suing Apple because they provided an alternative storefront for publishers to sell books. #ObamaFAIL
  3. @MikeBeas OTOH, if you invested in $AAPL as recently as 2 weeks ago you'd still be up more than 5% (38% since Jan 1).
  4. @JBrodkin In other words, "data only plans" & VoLTE are beneficial to AT&T, solves THEIR problem. To be seen how it benefits users.
  5. @JBrodkin Current LTE phones are hybrids. Current iPhones use two connections for voice & data. Future: 1. Tower radio slots are limitation.
  6. @JBrodkin Yeah, I know. But in two years, considering AT&T is already pushing 2G users off, where do you think they'll be on LTE?
  7. Tech press regurgitates R. Stephenson's "data only" remarks as some kind of policy *change*; it is not, it is a technological one! VoLTE
  8. @arstechnica @JBrodkin Because LTE pulls voice in as a packet service, VoLTE. Why is the tech press MISSING this?
  9. @cefranco2 End users won't have a choice. TDMA users didn't ;) 2G isn't as efficient or 3G, which isn't as efficient as LTE.
  10. @cefranco2 And tower slots = "over subscription". I'd love to see the FCC force providers to advertise their ratio.
  11. @cefranco2 AT&T has already slated NYC to roll off 2G. They've started sending mailers already offering free 3G handset upgrades.
  12. @cefranco2 It isn't the backhaul. The backhaul is pretty easily upgraded, linear to money in. Tower radio channels/freqs are $$$.
  13. @cefranco2 Their achilles is their tower slot capacity. And devices that hog slots hurt them (iPhone). LTE fixes that. Getting off 2G helps.
  14. @cefranco2 "Capacity" probs less to do with bandwidth, more with limited connection slots. Each iPhone opens -2-: voice AND data.
  15. @cefranco2 VoLTE is how LTE works: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_term… Having both packet and circuit switched networks is problematic to capacity.
  16. @MikeBeas Is it a Yugo? A 1985 Chrysler LeBaron? @9to5mac
  17. @cefranco2 In other words, LTE is moving the carriers to an all-data world. That is the way the tech works. Current LTE phones are hybrids.
  18. @cefranco2 Actually, the whole thing is kinda deceptive; LTE Adv is VoIP. That's the way it is -supposed- to work. Won't be voice channels.
  19. @Gruber Oh no, our politics are correlating again. (I feel a Twin Peaks vibe.)
  20. @adamsbaldwin Damn, you're quick. In the time between seeing your Fillion tweet, typing that, and finding a link…BOOM. You got it covered.
