  1. I just wrote "If installing Debian is your idea of a fun Saturday night ..."
  2. @kidblue Unless it had something to do with the interaction of the encoding, Flash and the browser. Does YT say it's compatible?
  3. @johnbiggs It will revolutionize what we all think about the taste of portable computing.
  4. @Gartenberg Apple tablet is three feet in diameter and will be made of cheese.
  5. RT @ATTNews: Check out www.att.com/holiday09 on Friday for holiday savings from AT&T. Sneak-peek at offers here: http://bit.ly/8nIGm5
  6. RT @suscraig: @saschasegan Sprint BOGO Rumor2, Lotus and Reclaim. Most dealer offering $50 off most handsets!
  7. Hey! We've got all the Black Friday cell phone deals we could find right here! http://bit.ly/7rc0bK
  8. @forumdude1024 But I replace my computer every 3-4 years, and I spend $1000-1500 on that.
  9. @jclin1 No. Palm has not talked about selling a GSM Pre in the US. Their next carrier is Verizon is early 2010.
  10. General consensus seems to be that no, not even the iPhone would have been a US success without carrier subsidy (and thus lock-in.)
  11. @remoknops The US, Canada, Japan and Korea are the only four markets I know of with similar carrier power. And all have mixed technologies.
  12. @mobiledivide I'm talking US. @philipberne was criticizing Nokia for not advertising unlocked N-series in US and made an Apple comparison.
  13. @SoldierBlade And if I had a huge bucket of ice cream, I'd be eating ice cream right now.
  14. @remoknops Yes. Success in the US is 100% tied to being picked up by a carrier ... something like 95% of phones are sold carrier locked.
  15. @jlendino The best way to avoid traffic is to take Amtrak from Springfield to Metropark, get picked up.
  16. Interesting question raised by @philipberne: would iPhone have been successful unlocked, unsubsidized at $599, separate activation? Discuss.
  17. @philipberne That competitor sells one phone intensely promoted by a carrier. Nokia needs the carrier exposure to succeed in US.
  18. @kidblue Weird background process eating cycles? Run Top in terminal?
  19. @philipberne Nokia did a huge TV ad campaign about two years ago. Had no effect. Americans won't buy unlocked phones en masse.
  20. @kidblue @luis_sosa Yeah, Flash version would be my first guess, make sure you have the latest.
