  1. @ChristianCaple Did you see this @JeffPassan piece on Salberg's catch and Kelly Smith? Great stuff. sports.yahoo.com/news/catch-for…
  2. My story on the death of Idaho receiver Ken McRoyal: spokesman.com/stories/2012/m… An emotional Robb Akey: "I can still see the smile on his face."
  3. @tommytomlinson What a masterful last column, Tommy. I have no connection to Charlotte, but I was hooked. Best of luck to you & @JPosnanski
  4. Story on Idaho's conference options: spokesman.com/blogs/sportsli… Spear said he realized through media MWC invite wasn't coming. No official word.
  5. @b21rust TV is definitely driving this, but Spear also touched on facilities. Attendance/alumni support also play a role, I think.
  6. .@Rob_Spear didn't give timetable for UI's next move. "Whatever the final outcome is, the University of Idaho is going to be fine."
  7. Asked about Sun Belt, Spear said no specific talks yet. "We’ll have those conversations here in the near future, I’m sure."
  8. Rob Spear said emails he's gotten have been split between staying in FBS, going to FCS. That's exactly feel I've gotten, too.
  9. Rob Spear said Idaho will look into feasibility of FCS. Main preference is clearly to land in FBS conference. He expects more conf. changes.
  10. Asked if there's a rush to improve facilities in wake of conference news, Rob Spear says, "There should have been a rush 20 years ago."
  11. Spear says main reason not considered for Mtn. West was "our marketplace, our demographics." Not enough TV sets.
  12. Rob Spear: "We are not going to be bitter. ... We've always been resilient."
  13. @VisitorsSection I'm not sure what's right, but it's all about money, facilities and what schools bring to the table to help TV deals.
  14. @b21rust Yes, sir. Thanks for following along.
  15. RT @murphsturph: Thompson says Idaho & New Mexico State were considered. Presidents and ADs from both schools made presentations to join MW.
  16. @npoppino @TNBashore Thanks for the input, Nate. I've heard strong opinions from UI alums on each side of the debate.
  17. Idaho AD @Rob_Spear told me he'll talk to reporters via teleconference later today in the wake of mass exodus from WAC.
  18. @TNBashore Maybe. But it's hard to argue winning at FCS level means the same. Plus, UI has already tasted FBS success, though fleeting.
  19. @TNBashore Fair points. Reasonable, tho, for UI fans to think competing at FCS level doesn't mean the same as in FBS. FBS = higher stakes.
