  1. Heartache at the final hurdle. The harsh reality of entering photography awards: http://www.rogeroverall.net...
  2. Angry at self. One of my commercial pics has a big flaw. Rules of awards don't allow any changes at this stage, so pulling the whole panel.
  3. RT @conoro: Brilliant series of posts by Trevor Collins about the floods around Bandon. A great resource for the local community: http:/ ...
  4. http://twitpic.com/qik6j - The fruits of an afternoon's debate. The final selection for the 2010 IPPA awards.
  5. Awards: Reportage Weddings was much, much harder. Long debate at Chateau Overall between operations (me) and marketing (Anne).
  6. Awards: pulled the Bridal category - pics too weak. Panel of Commercial images selected. Ditto Pictorial/Travel. That was all quite easy.
  7. Award selection proving tough. I'm not the only one: @petercoxphoto http://www.petercox.ie/blog...
  8. Insanely (and stupidly) proud of having just cleared 2 days' washing up using rainwater collected overnight. It's like "The Good Life"
  9. Ireland on its knees: economy, floods. Civil servants' response: strike.
  10. Managed to collect about 20 litres of rainwater last night. Very useful for non-drinking purposes. More heavy rain today.
  11. There is good news. We ate out earlier because we can't wash up. No washing up for a week! Huzzah!
  12. Water supply cut until next weekend at the earliest now. Previously, those in power had said no water until this Monday.
  13. Terrifying Evening Echo online headline: "Cowen chairing flood response meeting".
  14. More heavy rain predicted for Sunday. Have set up a big tank to collect rainwater which once boiled can be used for washing dishes etc.
  15. Back home after a shopping trek to secure buckets and a water tank. Also scored 64 litres of water. Home supply now close to 100 litres.
  16. @CityLocal_Cork Abandoned Mallow. Fermoy no problem (bride + church on same side of river), Vienna Woods had water, so wedding OK
  17. "Officials" predict no water until "at least Monday". Officials = politicians/civil servants, at least Monday = we have no idea when
  18. Water situation does make you appreciate how life must be for those who don't have fresh, clean water from the tap as a matter of course.
  19. Taking family out and about to hunt for water containers and water. Good old fashioned family fun like in the old days. Or in Africa.
  20. Day 2 without water. Surprising how hard life is without water from the tap. Scoured city for water yesterday. Managed to find 16 litres.
