  1. One basic thought at this point in the presidential nominating process... let voters vote... let reporters report... period!
  2. Romney ace in hole this month could be the territories, which usually go to front-runner... 59 delegates in all..with Northeast on horizon.
  3. McCain lost one primary in 2008 after Super Tuesday, by 2,000 votes to Huckabee in LA. McCain swept the rest.
  4. Romney's share of the total primary/caucus vote down on Super Tuesday to 38% from 41% before. Santorum up from 24% to 27%. Newt 23% on 3/6.
  5. Timely wins for Santorum ...the last votes (except for ME) to take place in the next 3 weeks. Not a good way for Mitt to hit intermission.
  6. Gone and forgetten... Among former candidates on the FL ballot, Perry led with 7k votes, followed by Huntsman with 6k, Bachmann with 4k.
  7. SC ballot line for Cain (Colbert) draws a little more than 6k votes, 1% of total... represents more than Perry, Huntsman, Bachmann combined.
  8. Feast or famine...Santorum takes 60+ of Iowa's 99 counties...Romney wins 9 of 10 in NH... appears that Gingrich will capture 43 of 46 in SC.
  9. SC GOP Primary turnout exceeds 600k, more than 150k above '08 ... also breaks previous record of 573k for Bush-McCain contest in '00
  10. Some thoughts on "Is the GOP Race Over?" at rhodescook.com.
  11. looks like Dems will end up with less than 200 House seats for 1st time since 1946.
  12. Looks like turnout for tonight's PA Dem. Senate primary will be hard pressed to match the 1.04 m. cast for Specter-Toomey GOP race in '04.
  13. With Specter's loss, this marks first time since 1980 that more than 1 senator was denied renomination in a single year. And it's only May.
  14. Nature of anti-incumbency this year should be watched carefully. Thus far, Ralph Hall (R-TX 4) only one held below 65% in a House primary.
  15. For better or worse, I've joined the ranks of bloggers. Take a look if you dare at www.rhodescook.com. Advertisement over...
  16. According to MSNBC, NY 23 may not be over yet..10k or so absentees to count. Hunch is that Owens will still win, but race called too early.
  17. For those interested in reading about '93-'94 health care fight would recommend "The System" by David Broder and Haynes Johnson. Good read!
