  1. Beckett can't stop the four game losing streak as the Rangers win 4-2. Yankees now have sole possession of the AL East.
  2. Tim Wakefield has been placed on the disabled list with a lower back strain. Clay Buchholz will be called up for the start tomorrow.
  3. Smoltz starts well, but gives up 3 HR in the 6th. Millwood and the Rangers beat the Red Sox 6-3 Now tied with the Yankees in the AL East.
  4. Blue Jays knock around Brad Penny and win game two 6-2.
  5. Buchholz wins his debut 4-1 over the Blue Jays. He'll be sent back down tomorrow for Lowrie. Papelbon has a 1-2-3 save.
  6. Walks to Pedroia and Youkilis. Ortiz doubles off the top of the wall. 4-1 Sox.
  7. Rios sac fly gets the Jays on the board in the 4th. 2-1 Red Sox.
  8. Youk starts the game with a two run homer. 2-0 Sox in the first.
  9. Clay Buchholz gets his first start of the season and Mike Lowell is back. Red Sox kick off the second half in Toronto. First pitch coming up
  10. Julio Lugo has been designated for assignment. The Red Sox now have one week to trade or release him.
  11. Beckett: 9 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 SO. His 100th career win. Red Sox are 53-34 with a 2 game lead over the Yankees. Enjoy the All Star break.
  12. Beckett tosses a complete game shutout to tie Wakefield with a league leading 11 wins. Red Sox beat the Royals 6-0 and take the series.

  16. Beckett notches his 10th win as the Red Sox take game two from the Athletics 5-2.
  17. Athletics shut out the Red Sox 6-0 in Nomar's return to Fenway. Brett Anderson pitches a two hit gem.
  18. Red Sox rally against the Mariners' bullpen to salvage the final game 8-4.
  19. Aardsma saves the 3-2 Mariners win. Solid outing by Penny, but no run support beyond a Varitek home run.
  20. Saito walks the bases loaded in the 9th. Woodward bloop single breaks the deadlock. Mariners take a 3-2 lead.
