  1. When you dream, is your subconscious making it up as you go along, or does it start with a planned destination?
  2. Being snowbound and sick at the same time is like living in the North Pole.
  3. Being sick is like being in another universe where you don't even know who you are.
  4. The experience made me think about Jewish identity, how deep it can be inside a person though hardly ever acted on.
  5. Article was on the front page of the Register; 27 people becoming B'nai Mitzvah at the Towers, an assisted living facility in New Haven.

  7. Met a man who'd just lost his wife. He asked if I knew the secret of life. He told me it was happiness. He's 90 and happy. Knows something.
  8. When the Thanksgiving weekend is over, there's an exhaustion level. You need a weekend to recover from the weekend. But you don't get it.
  9. Just realized we're about to end a decade. Hadn't even occurred to me. Wow.
  10. We hosted a beautiful Thanksgiving ecumenical service last night. I love that folk song, "We Gather Together." It all felt good.
  11. I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Kids and grandchildren will be here; even a girlfriend. But what about people who don't have a family?
  12. Now I hear I can park for free in New Haven if I have a hybrid. What a country.
  13. Several people at my shul own hybrids. We're thinking of signs for a row in the parking lot: Hybrid Parking Only.
  14. So if you know the chaotic-ness of human behavior, should you be able to make predictions? Asimov and psychohistory. I need the algorithm.
  15. I'm interested in the unpredictability of anything involving human behavior. Stock market, football, politics. It's all chaotic. Fascinating
  16. Read People of the Book. Ok. Felt like The Red Violin meets The Last of the Just.
  17. Re-reading Snow in August. Always interesting to re-read a book you think you know. Like catching up with an old friend.
  18. Visited grandsons. At music class, Alexander, 2, put his arm around Avi, 1. Soon they'll be wrestling. I'm enjoying it while it lasts.
  19. Working on an Israel trip for March, for people who've been and who've never been. Interesting planning for both at the same time.
  20. 26 people at an Assisted Living facility, many in their eighties, learning how to have an Aliyah for the first time. They're working hard.
