  1. Another meeting planner just asked me to use their ppt template...hoping for bullet points and graphs. NO! Let's not put them to sleep.
  2. Meeting planners and speakers check out @OliviaMitchell - she has a great ebook on using Twitter in presentations.
  3. The best meeting ROI comes from the content...not the venue, not the entertainment or buffet...the takeaways learned from expert speakers.
  4. Event planners must deliver return on investment for attendees. Go for better speakers(and less expensive desserts if that's what it takes).
  5. For holiday reading this year, try titles and topics unlike what you usually read - refresh your brain and stretch your horizons.
  6. Did you cut back on marketing in 2009? If so, you'd better look at ramping it back up going into 2010. Don't wait for the economy, LEAD it.
  7. If you're cutting marketing costs, reduce your REACH, not your REPETITION. Maintain frequency but to a smaller list/audience.
  8. Working on next year's marketing plan. Now is the time to start on yours. If you don't have a plan, you're hoping for luck to carry you.
  9. Speaking for an MPI chapter (St Louis' EduCon) this week - I'd love to speak for your MPI or ASAE group. Visit me at http://promopower.com.
  10. If you're not actively promoting yourself, you can plan on being passed over in favor of someone who is. True in business or career.
  11. On my way to Orlando. Speaking at DEMA Show tomorrow. Great group of business owners, marketers and sales professionals...my prime audience!
  12. Sore throat and feet. Did ten PromoPower programs (keynotes plus breakouts) in five days last week. Glad to be working in office this week.
  13. The quality of your relationship with your front-line employees will be reflected in their interactions with your customers.
  14. Don’t lose focus in this tough economy - it’s easy to accept any work that pays now, but long term you’re better sticking to your expertise.
  15. Great news. I'll be speaking at Million Dollar Roundtable next summer in Vancouver. Financial people - see you there! http://promopower.com
  16. Branding angst. Tell me what comes to mind for you when you see the word #PromoPower. Also my domain name, so eager to hear from you.
  17. Your clients are all doing more with less. So they're frugal...but still demand quality. Serve them well now and you'll prosper long term.
  18. Reviewing my products - anything that carries inventory cost is getting close scrutiny. Anything that doesn't get "wow" reviews is gone.
  19. In your marketing materials don't dominate space with your photo or logo. Lead with BENEFITS to the reader. Write about them, not about you.
  20. Continuity is a key to marketing success - always look/sound the same: Colors, Voice, Type Faces, Music, Layout...and don't forget ATTITUDE.
