  1. @debcha I believe that would thus generate a *genuine* positive -- though an obviously deserved one.
  2. "We like lists because we don't want to die." Umberto Eco http://is.gd/4ZSTF ... (Reminds me of *White Noise*.) via @odannyboy & @maximolly
  3. @dylan20 Awesome, I didn't know that about Assassin's Creed. You can fly a Da Vinci glider!
  4. @gravitymonkey I like your son's sense of imagination!!
  5. Test drive of a Volt reminds me: Electric cars = software. They're upgradeable, likely getting better as you own them. http://bit.ly/1nu2iv
  6. After seeing this -- http://bit.ly/1zUR75 -- I want someone to make a Da Vinci video game, where his mechanized creations fight one another.
  7. Refreshing my various online accounts with insanely long and convoluted passwords.
  8. @brendankoerner I am now listening to a pile of Skeletonwitch on Rhapsody. That album cover is pretty excellent, I must say.
  9. The delights of reading e-books: I could not possibly agree more. http://lucylou.livejournal.... (via @boingboing)
  10. @MacheteBetty Glad you liked it! That "New Literacy" column was a lot of fun to write ...
  11. Adjuvants would have grown the supply of flu vaccine this year 4X. But they weren't put in. Why? Anti-vaccine fears: http://bit.ly/4BeA8L
  12. Do any of the politicians who play this -- or The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" -- as a campaign anthem actually *listen* to it?
  13. "Born in the USA" playing in the cafe. Haven't heard this in years and years, and man alive, is it ever a bleak song.
  14. @malbonster Yep, in that case, Google Docs won't do. Me, I can perform every single aspect of my job with ASCII text and hyperlinks.
  15. "Is it wrong to sleep with your sister?" And other winners of Slate's "Google Suggest" contest: http://www.slate.com/id/223...
  16. @malbonster If you need even *basic* document formatting, Google Docs won't cut it. If you work in mostly plain text, you're OK.
  17. @malbonster Ahahhah! Well, it doesn't really *need* to be a viable alternative -- it's doing something quite different.
  18. Any idea why this happens, and whether there's any way to fix it?
  19. I'm having a Google Docs problem: It often won't display all my folders. I have 40, but it frequently only shows 30 or so. Anyone else?
  20. Steven Pinker on "The Igon Value Problem" in journalism, which, I have to admit, has afflicted my writing many times: http://bit.ly/2VOFS3
