  3. On Saturday, Polk volunteers helped 2 families when a duplex fire on Brunnell Parkway in Lakeland destroyed 1 apartment & damaged the other.
  4. On Saturday, after fire destroyed his apartment, Highlands volunteers helped an Avon Park man with temporary shelter and other assistance.

  6. Highlands Red Cross helped an Avon Park mom with 3 kids (24, 11, 9) after a fire. We gave odor-control cleaner, a clean-up kit, & referrals.
  7. Aug. 22, at "Run for the Fallen," Highlands Red Cross gave water to 127 people, along with Health & Safety, Disaster & Hurricane Prep. info.

  11. A fire in Haines City. We helped parents, child, & infant. Total: 3 families in 12 hours since last night. Not over - I hear thunder claps.
  12. Polk volunteers have been called out to yet another house fire - the 3rd in 24 hours. Take care with cooking, appliances, & power sockets.
  13. We had second volunteer team head out this AM to help a woman displaced by a fire in Eagle Lake. Has everyone checked their smoke detectors?
