  12. There were 4 Billings spinster sisters, Mary Ann, Harriet, Margaret and Fanny. The first 3 all died of old age in 1902, a few months apart

  16. Royal St. - Named for Royal Grigor McGrigor (1838 - 1913) son of John & Eunice McGrigor, early settlers of Oshawa.
  17. McGrigor St- John McGrigor came here in 1812. He encouraged Jos. Hall to divide his land to form town lots and Oshawa the village was born.
  18. The factory that burned Wed. at 1123 Farewell St.was built in 1973 as the Westcane Sugar Refinery & was acquired by Lantic Sugar in 1984
  19. Cedar Dale formed due to the opening of Cedar Dale Works in 1862. It was later known as A. S. Whiting Manufacturing Co after its founder
  20. Cedar Dale -the area on Simcoe St S., between Bloor and Wentworth.. This was once its own village until it became a part of Oshawa in 1922.
