  1. @otakusecret @schneidertwit See YOU liked it, but this wave of disappointment is confusing me.
  2. @humblefool I believe it is more related to the similar cargo cult logic of "If I defeat them, they will become my friend!"
  3. @animemiz Then you read the Postscript and you realize that not knowing what's going on is the POINT of The Name of the Rose.
  4. @animemiz I find it's pretty hard to not like The Name of the Rose, even if you can't figure out what's going on.
  5. @animemiz Although I think Name of the Rose will be my eternal favorite of Umberto Eco's. But that will require further investigation.
  6. @animemiz I do mean to read the other Langdon novels sometime, and I will re-tackle FP since I liked re-reading Name of the Rose so much.
  7. @animemiz Oh, Foucault's Pendulum was for a totally different purpose and audience. I just like comparing the two for fun.
  8. Maybe it's only GLASS MASK LOGIC but I am curious as to how this cargo cult logic came about.
  9. SHOUJO LOGIC: The more miserable a protagonist's life is, the better they hone their skills. Doubly true when you do this intentionally.
  10. @concretebadger ...why is everyone but me all disappointed in Cencoroll :(
  11. @animemiz I only ever read Da Vinci Code. I should be shot for liking it more than my first trip through Foucault's Pendulum.
  12. @hisuiRT But she IS good at throwing tantrums and being obstinate.
  13. @hisuiRT Constance Contraire is three so she's not very good at the poetry insults.
  14. @khyungbird Japan really liked Robert Louis Stevenson?
  15. Not only does she insult people with rhyming couplets but now she is an expert at reading the pattern of everything.
  16. I believe that The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey has reconfirmed for me how awesome Constance Contraire is.
  17. @p0nt1fus Remind me sometime to ask you if I have at least grasped the basic basic of Derrida. I think I have an ANALOGY!
  18. @p0nt1fus Well, that makes sense, then. It was only epic in short bursts anyway, due to long time delays.
  19. @cuchlann The answer, according to Goodreads anyway, is "get the Dark Horse reprints". So I will. When I remember to.
  20. Hey @cuchlann: Should I get these Dark Horse reprints of Fafhrd or is there some omnibus lurking around somewhere?
