  1. Day 116: Trying to keep from getting Blackberry thumb again. Luckily, things here are well organized and my thumbs are mostly at ease.
  2. Day 115: I left Bahrain in a little twin engine puddle-jumper and am now somewhere. Can you guess where? I'll drop hints later.
  3. Day 114: The test went fine, thanks for the support. I relaxed a bit afterward, then watched the Nebraska game - delayed airing. Go Big Red!
  4. Day 113: I'm in Bahrain again to take my 2nd test. I had a schwarma and potato quesedea for dinner/break from studying. Wish me luck!
  5. Day 112: I flew off today. The launch is like the Superman ride at Magic Mountain - except you're in an airline seat and going backwards!
  6. Day 111: We just started getting Orbit satellite tv. Who knew Fashion TV was so addictive? It's on par with Pop-Up Video, a few years back!
  7. Day 110: ~110 pages left of 468 (& study questions to do!). I still don’t know if I can go in to take the test Sun or have to wait 2 weeks.
  8. Day 109: There was a great sunset tonight. I’ll post a picture on FB. The seas were calm, jets were returning and the sky was beautiful!
  9. Day 108: I got word today that I’ll probably be leaving the ship in Feb & report to DC in Mar. < 2 years & we’re already heading back East.
  10. Day 107: Study update – 234 of 468 pg book read. I’m reading like crazy, working the study questions, and hope to take the exam in a week.
  11. Day 106: It’s amazing to think that our aircraft have been able to complete over 99% of the assigned missions. This ship rocks (IIDSSM)!
  12. Day 105: We have a new Executive Officer today. Welcome aboard CAPT Ring. Fair winds and following seas as CO of USS DUBUQUE, CAPT Bolt.
  13. Day 104: Another Replenishment at Sea today that went smooth. Fresh strawberries and bananas are great to see come across the wire.
  14. Day 103: Many blessings on this Veteran’s Day to all former and current military members. I am proud to serve with you and in honor of you.
  15. Day 102: It's usually hazy here, but it was crisp and clear tonight so I went up top for a look & HOLY COW- the Milky Way was on display!
  16. Day 101: <-sounds like an easy listening radio station. I passed my 1st exam & ordered the 2nd. Next up - read 450 pgs on National Security.
  17. DAY 100! WHY AM I YELLING? BECAUSE IT'S BEEN 100 DAYS SINCE WE LEFT & WE ARE SAFE, UPBEAT, & ACTIVELY SUPPORTING OUR BRETHREN ON THE GROUND.
  18. Day 99: Almost triple digits! Luckily that's not the temperature outside - it's one of the nice things about being over here in the fall.
  19. Day 98: Back to work. We've been working with the Aussie ship HMAS Toowoomba lately & swapped Sailors for tours. Great team on board there.
  20. Day 97: Late sleepers, brunch, volleyball, baskeball, and watching G.I. Joe on the big screen in the hangar bay. It's nice to relax a bit.
