  2. If Tom and I were ever married and I in such pain as @mrssamuelpepys, I hope he would not snore through my agonies as @samuelpepys does
  3. I had thought Tom would come to be my valentine but he came not near me the whole day.
  4. but the King cake has come out well, so as to do credit to our house
  5. I do not like large parties of company at home. There is far too much work and far too little thanks.
  6. The mistress was at one of her high rants this evening. I am glad I was not much needed in the great chamber.
  7. I have heard the Temple boy is a cuckoo in the nest and that the child is fathered by Temple's own cousin!
  8. @WaynemanBirch did naught but gawp at the girles tonight. He could hardly hold a plate he was so busy looking between Mercer and Willet.
  9. I finished the last batch of pies about 3 of the morning and rose again at 6. I am too tired for Christmas spirit
  10. We are quite out of cloves for making up a poultice. I will have to send @WaynemanBirch out to get some more
  11. I have had little sleep, with the Mistress up and down and smelling as foul as a privvy closet
  12. @DrunkenLuce is still looking pretty pale though she has not touched the ale for two nights
  13. It is good that the Master is so taken up with business as he is mightily angry with her when she drinks. Tis lucky she is an excellent cook
  14. Luce had been at the ale again. I hope for her sake and ours it is not the wormwood ale that causes her to run quite mad.
  15. We have had such a cosy week about the sewing. The tales the Mistress and Barker have told of their childhood made me weep with laughing.
  16. I do not know what is the matter with our Wayney but he is off gathering wool and cannot attend to what I say even more than his usual fault
  17. I hope Barker has the sense to take the jug away.
  18. I dread to think the state of Luce when we are back from the play. I saw her pouring the jug e'en as we left.
  19. Barker and I are to go in full mourning and @DrunkenLuce and the others in mourning hoods and gloves.
