@ STALKER's definitely worth trying. METRO 2033 features a similar post-apocalyptic vibe but it's more of a FPS corridor shooter.

@ Thanks for super-quick posting of GHOSTKEEPER to UK (took less than 2 weeks to get here). It's a fantastic film on a great DVD!

@ STALKER: SHADOW OF CHERNOBYL is probably the closest, featuring a post-apocalyptic open world and plenty of guns, etc :)

@ FALLOUT NEW VEGAS is alright but more buggy than FALLOUT 3. THE ELDER SCROLLS games (eg, SKYRIM) are roughly comparable.

GHOST KEEPER (Makichuk, 1982). Atmospheric and low-key horror picture that eschews slasher pic brutality in favour of psychological horror.

INTRUDER (Spiegel, 1988). Hadn't seen this since the early 2000s and fell in love with it again.

INTRUDER (Scott Spiegel, 1988). Visually inventive slasher pic that is laced with irony and ties murder to money. Absolutely delicious.

As a bit of light relief, here's a photo I took of a very old painting in a supposedly haunted room at a nearby pub

@ Was dangerously hooked on FALLOUT 3 a few years ago; it ate up my life. Wonderfully-realised world. NEW VEGAS was... not as good

More marking to do, followed by the last two episodes of the first series of BRAQUO... then a month's wait for series two. Will I cope?

RIVER MURDERS (cont'd) Liotta turns in a good performance and there are some interesting themes. Definitely worth a look, despite bad press

THE RIVER MURDERS (Rich Cowan, 2011). Interesting, slightly contemplative, STV thriller that subtly undermines the Hollywood macho type...

Y'know, at the end of every work day, walking home w/my backpack slung on my shoulder, I hear the 'Lonely Man' theme from Incredible Hulk.
