  1. The Klein ISD bond steering committee mtg is over. Please come to the Board Workshop on Tues. the 15 @ 6pm at Klein HS.
  2. Audience: I support Scenario A b/c it is least disruptive for KHS students, if the tax situation can be tweaked by delaying other projects.
  3. Audience: Is there an option of extending the time of the board vote or delaying the projects for another year?
  4. Audience: I hope that the district can keep in mind what effects everyone. Remember that we @ other schools have to help pay for any plan.
  5. Klein ISD bond steering committee mtg: At this point, audience members are speaking generally in support of renovating KHS w/kids onsite.
  6. Audience: For 48 years this has been Klein HS. This community built up around KHS. They have renovated onsite at other places.
  7. Audience: The closest scenario that meets the spirit of the original plan is scenario C or something real close to it.
  8. Petrek: You have to pass the 50 cent test in order to successfully sell the next set of bonds.
  9. Petrek: Take current debt, along w/projected debt for the sale & see if you are going to pass the 50 cent test, as relates to the tax rate.
  10. Petrek: In order to sell bonds, districts must demonstrate to the attorney general that they can pass the 50 cent test.
  11. Klein ISD CFO Thomas Petrek is clarifying the 50 cent test.
  12. Audience: Although it is legal to change the plan, there is a moral obligation to stick to the original plan.
  13. Jim Brady facilitator: No, the voters ultimately authorized a dollar amount, not final projects, though the bond was based on the best plan.
  14. Audience: Do we have to bring any changes to the bond back to the voters for approval?
  15. Klein ISD: The new scenarios, G,H & I, will be posted to the Klein ISD website by Monday.
  16. Audience: There should be a scenario J which allows for the stadium to be torn down and rebuilt elsewhere, more room to rebuild KHS onsite.
  17. Klein ISD bond steering committee mtg: audience is now making general comments. Again, most people here seem to want C.
  18. KISD's Robertson: We would also have to buy land for a new stadium, which could be an additional $5 to $7 million on top of that.
  19. KISD's Robertson: To demolish and rebuild the stadium elsewhere would cost an additional $35 million on top of the renovation costs of KHS.
  20. Audience: Are there any numbers on a suggested citizen scenario to tear down the stadium and renovate w/kids onsite, a modified C?
