  1. Less than 20 villagers registered to vote in Dahaneh town today. Clear indication that they fear Taliban reprisal on polling day
  2. Unit took one casualty after a Taliban ambush with RPGs... very saddening
  3. Walked into a Taliban garden of eden today... lush marijuana plants in the middle of the desert.... wow

  15. feels trapped. Without a car it's almost impossible to wander outside after dark. Guess it's hotel burgers and fries for dinner again.
  16. Went to what could be the only 'mall' in Kabul. 3 floors, 30-40 about air-conditioned shops and security scanners at all the entrances.
  17. Had dinner in a 'foreigner' restaurant guarded by 10 guys with AK-47s. Interestingly, it was just along what is known as 'kidnap alley'.
