  1. Progress continues on 10-X project, 4 miles southeast of Tusayan. Completed 300 acres today, no burning Fri-Sun.

  3. Twin Fire is 908 acres and 90% contained. Management of the incident transitions to smaller organization Thursday.
  4. The 921-acre Twin Fire is now at 60% containment.
  5. Community meeting on Twin Fire on Thursday October 8 at Elementary/Middle school from 6:00 to 7:30.
  6. Efforts are underway to replenish water tanks on private lands used as water resources on the fire.
  7. Continue to improve and patrol constructed fireline, extinguishing materials 100 feet inside fire perimeter, and structure protection.
  8. Twin Fire has line around the perimeter, less breezy conditions today, operations continue
  9. Twin Fire Update: The closure of Bill Williams Mountain remains in effect. Also, the Kaibab Lake Recreation Area is closed to the public.
  10. Smoke will continue to be visible as the interior of the fire is still burning. However, smoke impacts should be greatly reduced.
  11. Twin Fire Update: Today, firefighters will be working to continue securing containment lines and begin mopping up.
  12. Despite high winds overnight, firefighters were able to hold containment lines and prevent growth on the 1,000-acre Twin Fire.
  13. Twin Fire Update: The evacuation of the southwest area of Williams has been lifted as of 10 a.m. today. Families can return to their homes.
  14. Twin Fire Update: The Twin Fire did not increase in size today. Estimated size = 1,000 acres.
  15. Twin Fire Update: The Williams High School and Williams Elementary-Middle School will be closed tomorrow -- Monday, Oct. 5.
  16. Twin Fire Update: The Twin Fire is 10 to 15 percent contained. The firefighting effort went well today.
  17. The businesses evacuated due to the Twin Fire are now allowed to reopen. The residential area, however, remains under an evacuation order.
  18. Helicopters and airtankers have been unavailable for suppression efforts today due to high winds.
  19. Things are going well on fireline today. Strong southwest winds are causing short-range spot fires, which crews have been able to put out.
