  1. Lance Armstrong's Team RadioShack -- with 26 riders from 16 nations -- will hold its first training camp in early December in Tucson, AZ.
  2. Tour winner Alberto Contador and Astana have reached a preliminary agreement for Contador to stay with the team through 2010. #cycling
  3. Emily Hughes, a 2006 Olympian, just finished her long program at Skate America & stayed on her feet. Three clean triples. A solid skate.
  4. @SarahHughesNY, the 2002 Olympic champion, is headed to Skate America by train, then car, to watch her sister Emily perform. #figureskating
  5. Just returned to my hotel after Day 1 of Skate America. A long, cold day. The world champion Evan Lysacek is in 1st after the short program.
  6. Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo won the pairs short program by a mile. They might be older -- 31 and 36! -- but are still amazing. #figureskating
  7. The press room at Skate America is set on an ice rink covered with thin boards. I'm wearing a parka, but I think my toes have frostbite.
  8. Aw, this could not be cuter. RT: @DelMarMom It's fun to watch old video footage! http://bit.ly/4FAudT #figureskating #olympics
  9. From Harvard to the Olympics? A plucky skater returns to the ice for another Olympic bid. http://bit.ly/4v8J4F #figureskating #olympics
  10. Already, there are at least 9 banners up at the Skate America arena for Kim Yu-na of South Korea. Her fans are both diligent and efficient.
  11. @Schwabcycler Thanks for the restaurant tip. A place I'd been to before and liked -- the Black Bear Cafe -- closed since my last trip here.
  12. @rjgerwin The only thing that's missing is snow. It will be 22 degrees here tonight. It's kicking me into Winter Olympics mode. Brrrr...
  13. Just saw Rachael Flatt's short program run-thru. She had a smile on her face the entire time. She honestly looked like she was having fun.
  14. Sitting inside the 1980 Rink in Lake Placid, watching the women practice for Skate America. Lots of Olympic history here. USA Hockey!
  15. Enjoyed a beautiful drive up to Lake Placid this AM to cover Skate America. Perfect, crisp weather. Gorgeous birch trees lined the road.
  16. @dhersam I grew up in a much more exotic place than NYC: suburban NJ. Pretty close to everything -- beaches, skiing & the city. Loved it.
  17. @Indiedoc Thanks! I appreciate the note. I'm writing about the Winter Olympics now, but am eagerly awaiting the news about Alberto Contador.
  18. @dhersam Yes, thank God! They still live in the house I grew up in, in an area filled w/ Poles who came over after the war. They're amazing.
  19. A special thanks to all the WW II veterans. If my parents hadn't been freed from the Nazi labor camps, they wouldn't be here. Me, neither.
  20. Sasha Cohen, the 2006 Olympic silver medalist, withdraws from Skate America with a calf injury. Still trying to come back after 3+ yrs off.
