  1. 240hz TVs make movies shot on 35mm film look like they were shot with a consumer grade video camera....Thanks a lot technological innovation
  2. You can't go starving if you learn to make bread like this... http://vimeo.com/8045431
  3. Does anyone disagree that NORTH BY NORTHWEST is Hitchcock's most perfect work? PSYCHO, NOTORIOUS, REAR WINDOW and VERTIGO ain't bad either.
  4. Two life imperatives; getting old and death. Both of which, I'm told are no good. I suppose the 1st can be avoided, but only with the 2nd...
  5. THE CHINA SYNDROME (1979) I'm assuming the events of this movie are somewhat 100% true. Jack Lemmon is one of the world's greatest actors...
  6. To those who do not believe in evolution: Look at the original iPod. Then- look at the iPod touch. Case closed!
  7. Placing your hat beneath your chicken sandwich lunch makes your hat smell like chicken. Depending on the person, this could be a good thing.
  8. 2012 (2009) If you can't enjoy a movie like this I feel bad for you. A totally fun disaster picture that I probably never have to see again.
  9. DEATHRACE 2000 (1975) Horrible campy fun. A movie where hitting a baby with a car scores you points has to be given some recognition, right?
  10. @obviate "Oh, hello danny..." p.s. Happy birthday.
  11. REWATCH: BACK TO THE FUTURE (1985) Whoever says the 80's were bad decade for film is really off base... This movie is physical evidence...
  12. MY BLUEBERRY NIGHTS (2007) I definitely lean more toward formalism in film, but Wong's jazzy style is visually intoxicating. Good, not great
  13. MEDIUM might have MAD MEN beat; best Sal Bass inspired opening on television Most likely due to the great music http://tinyurl.com/y8lw56j
  14. @obviate This is horrible news. Yet, keep in mind, they get better as they go. THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY being the obvious masterpiece.
  15. Why have I gone all these years without reading an Elmore Leonard novel?
  16. WHATEVER WORKS (2009) The movie itself is just ok But I could pretty much watch LD eat breakfast and be happy Another passable Allen picture
  17. HOUSE OF THE DEVIL (2009) If I didn't know I would have thought this was made in '79. Full of style, looses it a bit near the end Still good
  18. ANTICHRIST (2009) Von Trier's meditation on evil in the natural world is at once heady & disgusting. It got into my head. His best film?
  19. Nicolas Cage.......One of my absolute favorite actors (I don't care how many GHOST RIDER movies he makes)
  20. Brett Ratner appears in Tony Robbins infomercial... Could this guy get any more lame?
