  1. the rose is heeled in so hopefully it will not die.
  2. and a rose tree has arrived. I dont remember ordering it. and who's going to go out planting in the snow?
  3. a pear tree (williams) and a kiwi plant (jenny!) arrived. is the weather going to cooperate and let me plant them up this weekend?
  4. everything's looking dull in the garden. but it's too cold and windy to do anything about it
  5. This weekend, my tasks are to cut down raspberry canes, dry off/store dahlias, & make space in shed in case the olive tree needs it...
  6. looking at the weekend weather, I'm not going to be getting out in the garden...unless it's to bail out flood water again
  7. tweeting again. So the bulbs are in. I've turned the compost and mulched. I've dug up the lilies and need to figure out how to store them
  8. and the cordyline leaf cuttings have definitely failed. will have to do some research on that.
  9. National Apple Day next Sunday. Must try to remember to go and try some apples somewhere
  10. my compost bin is full. pruned back all the climbers and ended up having to put half the clippings in the council recycling
  11. dug up the stargazer lily bulbs today. each bulb has turned into 7!
  12. finally shaking off this horrid cold, should be able to get out and harvest the last of the crops this weekend.
  13. The fancy dahlia has finally flowered. must photograph it as proof for mother before it drops off.
  14. Glad of the rain - seems crazy to have to water the plants in october
  15. why can't I stop buying new plants when the existing ones are all over the place. am I an addict?
  16. New grass seed Millium effusum aureum, and ophiopogon planiscapus nigrescens. the black grass is notoriously difficult to germinate...
  17. it's too dark in the evenings to do any garden chores when I get home... and the weekends have been busy...
  18. have to brave the ladders in the soil to try and lop some overhanging branches of the elderberry from over the fence. it's always tricky
  19. I think that the tomatoes may be reaching the end of their run now. It's going to look very bleak without their leafiness.
  20. Should I just turf out the pumpkins? they're continuing to have mildew and no fruits... maybe I should get rid of them and make space...
