  1. looking for new Flex gigs to work on....
  2. @webRat Are you saying the owner of your company does not know what Flex is?
  3. @webRat Sorry to hear that....Flex is great! Flex w/ Coldfusion via Remoting is even better. Why no flex?
  4. @webRat Interesting, I'm usually hired to build things for a client's existing architecture...and that's usually .NET or Java.
  5. @webRat What I'm saying is that I can't seem to get companies to see the value in dropping the $ for CF. I prefer it...they don't!
  6. @webRat As a Flex consultant, I always try to recommend using Flex w/ CF. But, my clients don't normally have or want to get CF.
  7. @benforta I like ColdFusion, but I've had trouble selling it to clients. How is using ColdFusion less work? A list might help me sell it.
  8. wondering why I can't access my new subversion repos via SVN using SSH...sigh...setting things up is never easy...
  9. Sweet! Just got an email saying my new server should be ready soon! Ahh haa ha...time to put on the Linux geek hat after a few years hiatus!
  10. @cfpowered Got a new Linux VPS to host my stuff on. It uses CentOS (a knock off of Red Hat Enterprise) Just using Knoppix to relearn Linux.
  11. Downloading Knoppix to try it out. I love LINUX and this seems like an interesting way to run it. Anyone have any thoughts on it?
  12. Took the first steps towards getting a new hosting provider. I'll start making the migration tomorrow. I sure hope this goes smoothly.
  13. @joe_kl Thanks...but none of those offer ColdFusion.
  14. I'm in the market for another ColdFusion hosting provider. Any recommendations other than HostMySite?
  15. My daughter (who is almost 3) is addicted to doing jigsaw puzzles. Hmmm...I wonder if she's gonna be a programmer like mom & dad?
  16. @benforta It's usually not my choice really...clients don't want to pay for CF when they can use Java or PHP for free.
  17. @benforta Yes, I know that. I'm just saying that now that I know how to do Flex Remoting via BlazeDS & Java...I won't be paying for CF!
  18. I like using BlazeDS and Java! And, because they are both FREE, I now prefer using this combination over Flex & ColdFusion! Sorry Adobe!
  19. I'm impressed with how easy & straight-forward it is to create a chat in Flex using BlazeDS and the <mx:Producer> and <mx:Consumer> tags.
  20. Had a free lunch @ the Brazilian Steakhouse in Durham today. Chamas is simply great! http://chamas.us/
