  1. Just finished 2 funky modern Japanese short stories-definitely using one of them in class.
  2. @hungrymarshall I wondered if you would catch any flak.
  3. Discussing Japanese lit. Traditional stories; modern stuff tomorrow. Still can't decide what to do for lesson planning purposes.
  4. So just ran into the daughter of my jr high Home Ec teacher. Way weird.
  5. Japanese history and lit today. Interesting-Chinese history seemed more complicated.
  6. @samthequeen Don't be incorrigible!
  7. @rbortner I have skype but I've never used it. Maybe we can when I get back from Bloomington this weekend.
  8. http://twitpic.com/adzpz Here's my group's Ikebana arrangement-Be jealous.
  9. Long day of chinese lit. Some confusing ideas. Now on to activities and maybe tai chi.
  10. Back from a longer than expected dinner at Cafe Djangle (?). Good food and interesting conversation. Now, modern Chinese reading.
  11. Have some reading to do tonight, but off to watch the optional movie. Hope it's interesting.
  12. @vergil66 Definitely better to do the metro than driving in D.C. Probably cheaper too.
  13. @vergil66 Yep enjoying myself. Maybe coffee or lunch sometime when I return?
  14. @stanage No meals provided but we have "suggested" places. Today was the Chow Bar.
  15. Good lunch and now ready for the afternoon of literature discussion.
  16. @samthequeen Well I can use woody items like pine branches and fern fronds in place of pink flowers, etc.
  17. @lauraliveson I'm thinking of using it with my repeater class. Having them read/study Ikebana and actually do it in class. Then write on it.
  18. @samthequeen I know, I know. I thought about that; HOWEVER, the cultural exchange will offset the "girlie" factor by my choice of materials
  19. Most "interesting" attendee--Chinese astrology woman from NH who pontificated several times on the extent of her Ch. astrology knowledge.
  20. Okay-so first activity: Ikibana (Japanese flower arranging). Sounds completely DUMB, but it was VERY cool-trust me. My group rocked!
