  1. Do not be like a man who tastes food in all the different restaurants but never actually gets down to eating a meal.
  2. It is important to think very well before entering a particular spiritual tradition. Once you have entered you should stick to it.
  3. Irrespective of whether we believe in God or karma, moral ethics is a code which everyone is able to pursue.
  4. Do your best and do it according to your own inner standard (call it conscience), not just according to society's knowledge and judgement.
  5. From early morning until I go to bed and in all situations, I always try to check my motivations and be mindful and present in the moment.

  9. Real compassion comes from seeing another person's suffering. You feel a sense of responsibility and want to do something for him or her.
  10. With genuine love and compassion, another person's appearance or behavior has no affect on your attitude.

  13. Buddha is the teacher, Dharma is the actual refuge, and the Sangha is the one which assists in understanding the objects of refuge.
  14. So while we are here we should try to have a good heart and to make something positive and useful of our lives.
