  1. Amidst the lovely yellow leaves, some snowflakes are sneaking their way softly down.
  2. A lonely donkey just sang for his supper. I'll go be his friend and pitch him some hay.
  3. Hoping the rain gave the blueberries the boost needed to ripen up--That sweet harvest beckons us, just around the corner.
  4. New birds at our place: LIttle chickens have come home to roost and perhaps lay eggs by this fall. For now, they will keep Moses company.
  5. Lots of wind today, so it is a good day to fish from shore. Cross River and Loon Lake are both good spots to try.
  6. Check out this video from Alaska regarding the flooding in Eagle: http://tinyurl.com/ptrw5a
  7. Sunshine, calm lake, good fishing reports...It's a great time of the new season. If we're lucky, it might be 60 today.
  8. Ice almost completely out on Gunflint. East half still has large masses, but they are very black. Should be gone tomorrow. Come and fish!
  9. Listening to two flickers exchange calls...Also heard a chorus of white-throated sparrows on our walk today. Great to have them all back!
  10. Enjoying a cup of coffee in at La Plaza Inn, Walsenburg, CO. Sunny out, snow in the hills. Lovely day!
  11. In search of warmer weather, I am in Niobrara, NE. Open rivers, no snow, and a few open lakes. It's wonderful to see all that water!
  12. It's a white world today after last night's couple-inch snowfall. Trees frosted, all fresh. Welcome to spring! Should melt soon enough.
  13. Pizza in the bread oven tonight--yum! Soon we'll be rolling crusts every Thursday, for guests to enjoy with us. Tastiest pizza ever.
  14. I saw a chipmunk just now. Seems a little early for that, given the amount of snow we still have and the 25 degrees outside.
  15. Sunshine and 45 already. Excellent trout fishing over the weekend, with limits caught on trout. Snow is receding rapidly.
  16. Looks like we ended up with about nine inches of snow. It blew around a lot, and made shoveling an interesting challenge--where to put it?
  17. Greg just came back from plowing. He figured about five inches up at Seagull so far, and six and a half here on Gunflint. Still snowing!
  18. Here comes the snow.....Alright! It's snowing and blowing, and the Canada shoreline is disappearing. I love a good snowstorm.
  19. Skied at Golden Eagle today. Great trail conditions. Big snow coming tomorrow, so I'll be able to get out there again. Join me?
  20. Sunny bright day! Lots of snow, and I get to go skiing today!
