  1. In airport, heading from Jakarta to Padang! Security scanner operator did not react to the 2 frozen turkeys I have packed.

  5. Important for us to keep building the positive relationship we have in the community. We're conscientious of how we work, dress, act, etc.

  7. Have also been supporting English instruction & conversation practice at local high school, spearheaded by Jess & Sean.
  8. In 3 wks of Proj Sung. Geringging, we've demolished and/or salvaged & rubbled at about 12 homes & 1 school!
  9. I'm off on my visa run, will return to project in time for Thanksgiving.
  10. One man scooted up to our house under banana leaf umbrella, chucked it at our front step, & squeezed into seat as we discussed distribution

  12. Whirlwind unloading followed by spontaneous community meeting w/ village elders on our front step.
  13. Yesterday, also received truckload of hygiene materials from Pak Andreas (same donor of our tents) for distribution in our community.

  15. UNDP also talked w/ homeowners re: demolition & rebuilding plans & resources. Obstacles to building back better? Cost, awareness.
  16. Next, visited Aaron's demo site where team figuring out how 2 safely dismantle & bring down partially collapsed house
  17. Took UNDP 2 Suz's site; homeowner & volunteers moving belongings from unsafe house, prepping site for demolition
  18. Yesterday PM, UNDP visited our project! They were here to learn about challenges & realities of demolition in the rural areas.
  19. 30+ volunteers at the base. Multiple demolition and rubble teams out each day
