  1. Since Grass Point was started in April of 2006 we have outlawed tail docking as inhumane treatment of dairy cows and removes a vital tool.

  4. VitaminD is attracting more research showing prevention of cancer, heart disease, hypertension, & diabetes. Grass fed milk has natural vit D
  5. The study evaluates differences between milk, butter & cream. At this point they have concluded a taste and color difference. More 2 come.
  6. The research study will be a 3year project that is evaluating differences between grass fed dairy & confinement dairy.
  7. August 12th we attended a special presentation from the Center For Dairy Research and WI Department of Ag on a grass fed dairy study.

  11. @mekiser You got it. Vit D was started to be added sometime in the 30s; which is when they started moving cows inside.
  12. Vit D comes from the sun. If the cows are allowed to go outside they collect vit D and can pass it along to our kids; go grass fed.

  14. Remember rain is good. Our grass based dairy farmers need 1 inch of rain each week to maintain good, growing pastures. Think rain; its ok.
  15. CAFOs can have unmanageable concentrations of untreated manure creating air and water pollution. If it smells bad it usually is bad.
  16. Most CAFOs are massive (thousands of animals), extremely crowded, diet is high corn/soy, feed shipped in & cows live on concrete.
  17. CAFO = Confined Animal Feeding Operations. These are places where cows don't get grass & are not free to enjoy open pastures.
  18. Mark A. Kastel of The Cornucopia Institute recently reported that 30-40% of organic milk is now supplied from CAFOs.
  19. Not only is grass good for us, animals and the earth it has a natural beauty. Hillsides, schoolyards, roadsides all bring serenity w/ grass.
  20. Grass is a guardian of the water supplies of cities. The connection between city communities and rural commuities is real and grass is good.
