  1. Good interview discussing the upcoming #MemoQ v4 with István Lengyel: http://tinyurl.com/y9nbce4
  2. Deleted my Plaxo account and still get e-mail from that platform. Very annoying.
  3. In-laws canceled plans for a Christmas visit, so I suppose we'll work over the holidays after all :-(
  4. Report on the new rate survey published by the German translators' association BDÜ: http://tinyurl.com/ybobxxr
  5. Amazing how quiet my laptop is after I vacuumed all the fuzz out through the fan vents
  6. Useful tip for hiding unwanted languages in the MemoQ project wizard interface: http://tinyurl.com/y8jc244
  7. 8-min documentary film by gymnasium pupils (in German) on the Leipzig 1989 peace prayers - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvJaLiemeJ0
  8. Nothing like a water tank vacuum cleaner and a few drops of jasmine oil to take the smell of two-month old dead fox out of the office air!
  9. @EN_ITtranslator Upload my TMs to Termserver to do single word queries? Not on your life. I need to hand-pick choices in bulk. Offline.
  10. @nickrosenthal If that's true then the Grail Keeper is Dutch. But that doesn't help Ottonormalübersetzer at this point.
  11. @EN_ITtranslator Just tested the termeXtractor demo - utterly useless for German, won't display non-ASCII chars
  12. @EN_ITtranslator - very doubtful. (1) Must be EN (2) no mention of bilingual extraction. If I want monolingual, I can live w/ AntConc.
  13. @SFMTraduction - Yep, it's definitely bottom rung. I forgot about the USD too. I'll hang out a red light first!
  14. @nickrosenthal After a recent chat, I decided to see if there is anything new & interesting for bilingual term mining. Answer = not really.
  15. @SFMTraduction Direct is good, but with my workload I have a choice to hire a PM in-house or use externals often. Prefer the latter.
  16. @SFMTraduction - I've seen triple that rate or more from good agencies. Note the #bottomfeed hashtag.
  17. @nickrosenthal Araya is the terminology extraction tool from Heartsome, presumably an alternative to MT Extract
  18. Does anyone have experience with Heartsome Araya?
  19. @localization - I'll have to test what happens with leading ellipsis if the segmentation rules are set to ignore it.
  20. @localization I think as long as you are working in an environment where segmentation can be fixed, ellipsis is no big issue.
