  1. Is off to talk to the queen of the amaryllis this am.
  2. @JeanAnnVK Really! That is good news.
  3. plans to use T-Day wknd to plant the rest of my bulbs, interview an amaryllis collector and get ready for a cruise on a gigantic ship.
  4. @Annieinaustin @zanthangardens oh, yes, the squirrels are bad this year. I have chicken wire down until the ground freezes.
  5. @janemilliman Jane, I put down chicken wire yesterday; that will help. Also I find that they're great in pots. Where's your cute avatar?
  6. @pitsenberger Well, if you're serious, you go to the websites. Yes, they were on sale, but only because there was just a smattering left.
  7. @Indygardener Be careful. You don't want to start on the furniture, just because you can't stop chipping!
  8. @buffalogeek I bet! My plant geekery must sound odd to the non-gardening followers. It's great to be able to combine my 2 fave hobbies tho.
  9. @pitsenberger @zanthangardens Well, judging by the empty bins and sold out websites I've seen this week, someone is buying them!
  10. Is trying the gin strategy on my tazettas this year. Just poured some in. I wonder if the alcohol wld impede rot as well as control height.

  12. RT @Arcadia1: @B_McManus As a former fashion major and recovered fashion addict, I can say with authority:fashion & horticulture are SO ...
  13. Thanks, everyone who has commented on the Pavord giveaway! So many different kinds of bulb love.
  14. New post on GWI Life is just a tree of berries http://bit.ly/3IN9w5
  15. @punkrockgardens I agree. It was an interesting discussion on On Point. I think it will be in their archives soon; worth hearing.
  16. NPR journalism debate this am: "Newspaper reporters are hacks. They rewrite press releases. They are the lowest of the low."
  17. @ZanthanGardens I think a lot of people buy bulbs via mail order; not many would buy plants that way. Also, CA weather is not great 4 them.
  18. Ok. I am officially deranged. The Anna Pavord interview prompted another order to Brent and Beckys to order bulbs we talked about.
  19. has started my in-office gardening, with the first container of Golden Rain tazettas. Next, at the end of december: hyacinth vases!
  20. @GardeningBTBook @susancohan I love love Bulb, and had a fun interview with the author. Watch for it on Garden Rant tomorrow.
