  1. @RichardGeorge37 I wrongly assumed it was based on the TV series of that name but fortunately not!
  2. An excellent Sherlock Holmes film that borrows from "The Hound Of The Baskervilles" and Poe's "The Mystery of Marie Roget".
  3. Watched "The Scarlet Claw" starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce this afternoon.
  4. Zooey Deschanel is top of my who to follow recommendations. Had a quick look and her tweets are as irritating as her films.
  5. For me it is the ending that makes "Casablanca" so special.
  6. At least once a year I take "Casablanca" off the shelf and it always blows me away. Absolute perfection.
  7. Watched "Casablanca" last night. Don't think films get any better than that.
  8. Hopefully something will leap out at me during a more meticulous search.
  9. Can't find anything even approaching a decent film in tonights TV listings at first glance. A sad state of affairs for a Friday.
  10. Whilst Wes Anderson night was a great idea by Film4 it was a little spoilt by the 9pm start.
  11. Could easily have sat through the rest of Wes Anderson night on Film4 if I didn't have "The Darjeeling Limited" and "Rushmore" on DVD.
  12. Suspect that it was more Wes Anderson than Roald Dahl. Really don't remember the story from childhood.
  13. Up until last night it was the one Wes Anderson film I didn't think was for me. How wrong I was.
  14. Watched "The Fantastic Mr Fox" on TV lat night. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

  17. @RichardGeorge37 The only Cruise film I give house room is "Magnloia" which isn't really a Cruise film at all.
  18. A wonderful 1932 film based on HG Wells' "The Island Of Dr Moreau" starring Charles Laughton.
  19. Delighted to read that "The Island Of Lost Souls" has been restored and is about to be released on DVD.
  20. "Au Revoir Les Enfants" was the first film in a long time to have me wiping my eyes at the end. Highly recommended.
