  7. 9/24/1922: Here we are back in Paris, and it really seems as though we were on our way home.

  9. 9/23/1922: Arrived in Bordeaux. We saw the vineyards being picked of their grapes...
  10. 9/22/1922: We sent a telegram ahead changing our plans. Took the 10:50 train out of Carcassone, two days earlier than our schedule.
  11. 9/21/1922: We thought of staying until Friday so that I could do some painting and sketching, but the place got on Mother’s nerves...
  12. 9/21/1922: ...considering that most of the sewage drained through the streets, the best thing would be to get away before anyone got sick.
  13. 9/20/1922: Our sightseeing guide was a tall, good-looking Frenchman, but a sad victim of the war...

  17. 9/18/1922: The Hotel de la Cite is really charming. It is small, but attractive in every way.
  18. 9/17/1922: We wound through cobbled and paved streets, so narrow and winding, that the motor fairly touched both curbs at the same time.
