  1. @skannie Hi Skannie! Not much longer now-- Phnom Penh and Angkor Wat, a flight to Bangkok and then back to Europe for me, on the 17th!
  2. Heading to Saigon tomorrow morning early...
  3. Leaving for Hoi An tomorrow, the tailoring capital of Vietnam!
  4. Took the night (sleeper) bus from Hanoi to Hue. Just spent the day walking around the Forbidden Purple City where the emperors lived.
  5. Leaving on a 2-day trip to Halong Bay tomorrow. After that, bus towards Saigon. We haven't decided on the stops yet.
  6. @RedReidinger Hi Melinda! Glad to see you on Twitter. Just got to Hanoi a little while ago. Twitter isn't blocked here, but facebook is!
  7. @lunaraven13 Good evening! Just arrived in Hanoi a little while ago. Guess it's about 3 am there...
  8. Just arrived at our hotel in Hanoi. Apparently Vietnam blocks facebook, but not twitter. China blocks both, Laos neither. Go figure!
  9. Good morning from Luang Praban, Laos!
  10. @expatina Attracting trolls means you've hit the mark. I had droves in '04 & '05 when I tried to tell people there was a housing bubble...
  11. I'm unblocked again! We flew out of Kunming in the Yunnan province of China this morning. Now in the pleasant French-style capital of Laos.
  12. @skannie Apparently yes, they really do eat skewered scorpions - and seahorses. We just took pictures tho'-- prefer to be- & eat- chicken!
  13. http://twitpic.com/pyzxk - A really great wall!
  14. A couple more posts at justinprime.com. Fortunately my own blog isn't blocked in China-- but just about everything I like to read IS!
  15. Am in Hong Kong, where twitter is not blocked- so hello everyone! On the 20th we go back to China, tho'- so will be incommunicado again!
  16. @Jaybezo Well, it's actually more like a super-smelly cheese-- but I really liked it, along w/ the other milk products we had!
  17. @vboykis Did NaNoWriMo in 2005-- it's great!
  18. No posting for awhile again-- we're off to Beijing tomorrow morning early. About 30 hours on the train & then awhile until I get back on.
  19. @Jaybezo Sounds great! Someone needs to teach Mongolian cooking in a traditional ger-- we had some great feasts! Yak double-cream- YUM!
  20. Almost all the gers we visited had solar panels and a satellite dish. Dung or wood fires. These days they all have metal cookstoves.
