  1. National Marathon (course includes Eckington) is in 18 weeks (Mar 20). Will post training programs and Sat. "long run" routes on blog
  2. Fencing on Trail has been replaced w/ less-scaleable desigin. Wise decision.
  3. Met Branch Trail: fence bein erected b/w S and T; retaining wall almost complete.
  4. Motorcycles & scooters already on the unfinished Trail. How does DDOT plan on preventing this in the future?

  7. DDOT to begin construction of "virtual traffic circle" at FL/NY/1st intersection this Monday and is scheduled for 8 months.
  8. Retaining wall being constructed on MBT north of T ST. This enables Trail to keep its flat profile. Paving of this gap should be soon.
  9. NY Pizza opened today @ corner of Florida Ave and North Capitol. Typical menu for our 'hood--everything. Bulletproof glass still up.

  14. Met Branch Trail is actually paved from R to T, dirt to around V, crushed gravel until Rhode Island, paved to Franklin. Bikeable, yes.
  15. Met Branch Trail is now paved from Franklin to R. "Trail to Nowhere" unfortunately. Now we need to push for temp connection to NY Ave Metro
  16. MBT delayed until Spring due to a right-of-way permit issue with WMATA? If so, this is a major ball drop by DDOT.
  17. Lookin for a different walking/running route? Try Met Branch Trail site. Get on at S, and take it all the way to Franklin. Weekends are best
  18. Metropolitan Branch Trail new estimated completion: Late Fall (for opening); Spring 2010 (for landscaping other beatifications). See blog

  20. Harry Thomas pool will now be open weekdays 4-8pm for two more weeks. Weekend hours 12-6 including Labor Day. Closed Tuesday.
