  1. working on my 'speaking in lolcats' talk - I've got the logical structure in place, now rounding up new media 'vocabularies' to fill it in
  2. @miczl Yes all data was backed up (remember, everyone, back up your data! because you never know when...) Now loading 4217 songs to new iPod
  3. feeling unhappy... my iPod was lost/stolen on my flight to Toronto
  4. More phishing messages today. Can't help thinking, I want to say to authorities, "What the hell? You know where they are, go arrest them!"
  5. (and just as an aside - I think the mass of anonymous editors given special powers to post 'notices' are WRECKING the wiki space)
  6. Help! Anonymous 'editors' are threatening to delete the Canadian proverbs page http://tinyurl.com/yjhvrps on Wikiquotes
  7. it's time to drop Technorati completely. Searches no longer have RSS feed, and it (erroneously) shows exactly one blog result for downes.ca
  8. found this great set of proverbs - http://tinyurl.com/nzutf - there weren't any Canadian ones, so I made a page http://tinyurl.com/yjuf982
  9. starting this week' s CCK09 session - on openness and transparency - in 5 minutes -- http://tinyurl.com/yd8e6jn
  10. without even campaigning, am on 74 lists - https://twitter.com/Downes/... - which is in turn a good list of edu lists...
  11. starting on another Dumas classic tonight (I like to read and listen to music for a half hour each evening, to unwind), The Three Musketeers
  12. finished Dostoyevsky's 'The Brothers Karamazov' last night - it was, um, OK - title characters are buffoons, which made them unsympathetic
  13. @MaggieL also, if only Google - and not Bing, Yahoo, Alta Vista, etc. can search Wave content, that's a bad thing
  14. @MaggieL 'has Wave' is a shorter way to say 'has a Wave account' (because of 140 chars) - and the majority still do not 'have Wave'
  15. Re: http://bit.ly/1cNeH9 Posts you can see only if you have Wave are NOT a step forward. Can anyone who is not Google search Wave content?
  16. ... and no, you can't just iterate to results in a complex system, because you just end up going back and forth and back and forth...
  17. seeing that many people favour results-orientation. Yet in complex, dynamic systems, how do we know how to identify appropriate results?
  18. asking, is it better to be results-oriented or process-oriented? What if it is very hard to guarantee results, due to change and complexity?
  19. watching men and equipment digging and drilling in the trees outside my window - hope they aren't wrecking my forest
  20. @MaggieL I meant no shortages of supply - in socialist Canada there's enough for everyone - how about the U.S.? http://tinyurl.com/ygjo4dn
