MP4/F4V files recorded in Flash Media Server seem to be unplayable outside of FMS? Not sure if it's me or if it's FMS that's the problem.

@ Forgot most important part! added --enable-libspeex to the configure command after I'd installed the Speex library.

@ A little late, but if you're encoding w/Speex, you need to explicitly include Speex when building ffmpeg, as I found out this week.

@ Yeah, that would work, but it's going to run server-side, would like to skip any intermediate steps, go straight from FLV -> MP3.
