  1. I can't fathom how much time has passed. It does feel a lot, yet it's still dark outside, and the rain sounds intensified.
  2. Just the sound of rain outside, and a muffled heartbeat, while I feel I'm slipping away.
  3. I feel worse, I don't know if I can stand up.
  4. I'm trying to think about the letter I've just tried to read. It doesn't make sense. Was it a letter she _wrote_ to someone?
  5. I don't know whether it's this darkness and weather, but this drowsy dizziness doesn't seem to go away.
  6. I cannot seem to make the lighter work again.
  7. "... He said he'd been following me... quietly, discreetly, and that he finally... felt ready to confront me. But what could I do?..."

  14. I still feel some dizziness. It's better not to get up from here, now. Hmmm, let me see... where is my lighter?
  15. In the envelope, a letter. Or so it seems. It's way too dark to make out what's written.
  16. ...and what appears to be an open envelope.
  17. On the desk are some books, pens, pencils, a small clock, a wooden box (which is closed), various papers and folders...
  18. I fumble and stumble, but finally sit down at the desk. I try the lamp, but of course there's no power.
  19. The thunderstorm intensifies. I try to reach the desk, and when I move I realise I can't properly maintain my balance. I feel a bit dizzy.
  20. I feel a conflicting urge to rush outside and stay put at the same time. I don’t remember seeing lilacs on my way to the house.
